The fallen victim

Ted Haggard's recent sex scandal brought Christians worldwide to even believe that the devil is working harder than usual. Pastor Ted was previously a pastor/leader at a 14,000 congregation of New Life Church and heads the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) which represents 45,000 churches around the country. The leader has recently resigned because of of allegations by former male prostitute and masseur Mike Jones that he had engaged in sex with him for three years and was on drugs(metamphetamine). The news is quite ironical when Haggard himself is a prominent figure in christian evangelism, proposed constitutional amendment in the U.S to ban gay marriages and state sodomy laws.

Haggard has stepped down and apologized to the community and admitted his wrongdoings in a recent letter and did mentioned that not everything reported is true about him. There isn't really much to believe in media news anyway. Yes, it could have been hypocrisy and it probably gonna hurt a lot. The issue is also politically sensitive as Haggard had direct access to the president. The incident is correct in timing, which is five days before the midterm elections where evangelicals are working doubly hard for the upcoming rally.

But I was just wondering about a man (who is married and has a lot of other commitments) and can engage in gay sex for three years. Even if he does it, it's with the same prostitute for three years. The relationship is reported to be purely physical and not emotional. Crazy thought I wouldn't dare imagine. It's a scandal as they said. The usual greed, sex, politics and money making news.
