Malaysia bodoh

Michael Backman recently wrote an article which caught eyes of many Malaysians. Checkout his article which the Australian writer concluded, Malaysia "bodoh" (stupid). Click on link:

While Malaysia fiddles, its opportunities are running dry

I agree with Backman's sting on Malaysians. While it hurts, I think it's so true about ourselves. The writer has an excellent view and understanding of our culture although he's of foreign origin. Nevertheless to top it all, the game of politics still goes on in Malaysia. From the issue of racial cards and boo-ing of Tun Dr. Mahathir. And not forgetting Malaysian Astronauts, who will be spending millions on outer space to Spin Top and Toss Batu Seremban.

Fat hope on a Malaysian dream from the way I see it. It's tiring to read all sorts everyday, silly Bolehland news and political scruffles internally. Racial integration seems to be halfway there hanging after 50 years of merdeka. We have around 13 years to go towards Wawasan. Can we make it? Wake up and get the message right, we should be working harder.

Reading all your links, the only thoughts in my head are, "I know. It pisses me off too." What makes me sad is that others might think that all Malaysians happily go along with the kind of nonsense that are a result of puffed-up self-importance and kampung-side immaturity. If they would pay attention, they would realize which race does all the talking and taking most of the time - the ones who say that our country has no problems and that we are all happy, just shut up and don't talk about discriminating stuff. How ironic is it that when people point out things like that, their comments are being labelled as divisive and racist?

I don't believe that there can be long-term improvement and progress in this country when we can't look into our backyard and clear up the dirt. Yes, there has been progress.. but I believe that there will be a glass ceiling, a point where we will reach and find that we can no longer go further in this country. It pisses me off to no ends when they take away things we work hard for and limit us, yet claim the successes of "malaysians" overseas. These successful people are usually chinese or something else, not malays!

Yet what is sad, is that they cling on to their pride and sense of privilege, refusing to acknowledge the truth and the problems. Brain drains should be alarming to a government, but notice how they only step in when their own kind don't want to come home as well? Tells us that they can't care less that we're gone.

Big brother is not stupid actually. If you understand their situation well enough, they are just protecting themselves and have their own plans. Funnily, they feel intimidated by their own people (from other races when they shouldn't be) and starts saying in recent Umno GA on the May 13 incident, warning to the rest that Malays will run amok and willing to bathe in blood. It's all over the media. We have to shut up, not even a squeak. We have no rights. Or can I say, Malaysia is just half democratic.

It's a reign of superiority, the land that belonged to theirs. Chinese and Indians aren't any better either. Worst kind of nationality we could have is each of every race is pursuing their own interest. It's already deeply rooted inside them.

I am not pissed off but I am just sad as I write along the lines here. What I can say to the rest is, if you are a chinese, don't think as a chinese. If you are indian, don't think as an indian. We are very much like them if we do the opposite. And that's the whole lot of problem.

Good statement. Question is, who does the land actually belong to? The aborigines on this land gets less out of things then these self-proclaimed sons of the earth. They award themselves special privileges, and make the rest of us pay for them. That is why people get discontented.

to answer your question, the land belonged to them. can't be orang utans, mouse-deers, bangaus and snakes.

you are right about the land issue. that's australia. if we look at other continents, ie: england, they very much 'bullied' scotland, ireland and etc. each culture has their own set of problems

You're right. I actually never say that there are better countries to live in than Malaysia. So it pisses me off when people tell me to get PR here (where I am now) and just don't come back because it's better. It's like how kids get upset and tell their mummies how other mummies are better. *laughs*

But of course, just because I think other countries have their own set of problems, doesn't mean I can't get upset with Msia's. *winks*
