Advertising is useless when ...

Nice hat, someone says. You looked up that someone wearing that hat, and it's a Nike. When it comes to sport, Nike tells everyone "Just do it". Nike tells you unconsciously their slogans just like how wearing Adidas boots - you might bend it like Beckham. The same goes to buying Toyota, Nokia, DiGi, Pepsi and even topping up your petrol. Ever noted Esso & Mobil often has lesser crowd compared to Petronas & Shell in Malaysia although they are in the same location? Preferred choice? Simple theory of advertising tells you Petronas and Shell gives you better fuel consumption from the fuel used - can it be so true? Is it the product or the person using it?

Corporations and advertising rejoice - the consumer is pretty dumb. And there's one herd of such consumers. Dumb. Idiots.

Stop eating McDonalds, don't drink Coke, swear not to step into Starbucks.

Difficult.

I hardly drink coke, eat McD and never step foot into StarBuck. Will this make you happy =)?
